Set amongst the stunning woodland surroundings of The Woodlands at Hothorpe, Emily & Sean’s wedding was a celebration of love, adventure and the passions they share. Inspired by their mutual love of Dungeons & Dragons, The Lord of the Rings and fantasy literature, they created a day that was both deeply personal and effortlessly beautiful.

Every detail was thoughtfully chosen to reflect their story, bringing together enchanting touches, natural elegance and a wonderful sense of fun. Surrounded by family and friends, Emily & Sean celebrated the beginning of their next chapter in a way that felt entirely their own, and we were delighted to help make it all happen.

A Ceremony Designed Around Their Story

Emily and Sean wanted their ceremony to feel intimate, meaningful and completely personal. By taking care of the legal formalities beforehand, they were able to create a bespoke ceremony centred around their own vows and a traditional handfasting ritual, honouring Sean's Scottish heritage. The result was a heartfelt celebration that perfectly reflected their relationship and the life they have built together.

Bringing Fantasy to Life

From the very beginning, Emily and Sean knew they wanted their wedding decor to celebrate the interests that brought them together. Their love of fantasy worlds inspired countless handcrafted details that transformed the venue into an immersive and enchanting space.

Emily dedicated months to creating many of the decorative elements herself, including a unique potion station filled with wedding favours and themed drinks, spell scrolls and glowing wooden buckets. One of the standout features was a bespoke 3D seating plan inspired by a Dungeons & Dragons map, complete with digitally sculpted and hand-painted details.

We absolutely loved working alongside Emily to bring these incredible ideas to life. Our role was to take her handmade creations and elevate them within the overall styling of the day, ensuring every detail felt cohesive, polished and beautifully presented. Seeing her vision come together within the woodland setting was a real highlight for our team.

A Room Full of Love

When asked about their favourite moment from the day, Emily found it difficult to choose just one. However, one memory stood above the rest: being announced as Mr and Mrs McCabe and walking into the dining room to see all of their family and friends gathered together to celebrate with them.

It's those moments that remind us why weddings are so special - not just the styling and decor, but the people, emotions and memories that make the day unforgettable.

A Vision Brought to Life

We first met Emily and Sean during a Woodlands open day. They spotted one of our styled displays and immediately felt it reflected the vision they had for their wedding day. They loved the colour palette, the natural styling and the overall atmosphere we had created.

What made the collaboration so enjoyable was their enthusiasm for incorporating their own handmade elements. We were delighted to work alongside them, helping to blend their personal creations with our styling expertise to create a wedding that felt authentic, unique and beautifully finished.

Emily & Sean's Advice for Future Couples

One piece of advice that particularly resonated with Emily during the planning process was from an article about guest lists - "it said weddings are not the place for reunions. This was, without a doubt, the best advice I received during the whole planning process." Keeping the focus on the people who genuinely matter most helped them create a relaxed and meaningful celebration.

Their final advice? Don't worry too much about perfection. At the end of the day "you’re surrounded by loved ones and marrying your favourite person." That's what truly matters.

Emily and Sean's wedding was a wonderful reminder that the most memorable celebrations are often the ones that embrace personality, tell a story and stay true to the couple at the heart of it all.
