As we were starting to slow down for Christmas at the end of last year we had an email from one of our couples who unfortunately needed to change their booked wedding date with us quite urgently due to unforeseen circumstances.
Laura & Karne were due to get married on the 14th of April this year but due to the groom needing an urgent health procedure around the time of the wedding, they needed to bring the wedding forward four months.
Luckily we had got the new date free and together with their venue Crockwell Farm, we re-scheduled the wedding for the 22nd of December.
After a first initial panic that things wouldn’t be ready in time (they had booked lots of bespoke items, including some incredible hanging hot air balloon floral arrangements), we worked super hard to pull it all together as quickly as we could for Laura & Karne.
Upon reflection, the styling that we had planned for April was actually so perfect for a christmas or December wedding, using lots of greenery, eucalyptus foliage, and using a colour palette of golds and neutrals.
We did have to make a few slight alterations to the original styling plan however, as Laura & Karne originally wanted to have a selection of games outside and together we decided that it was unlikely to be warm enoguh for their guests to enjoy them in December but we didn’t have to change too much thankfully.

One of our favourite parts of this wedding styling was the addition of the golden hot air balloons.
When we first met Laura & Karne, Laura mentioned that she had a little obsession with Hot Air Balloons and that she had a large balloon tattoo on her leg. She was keen to encorporate them in the design of the day somehow but wasn't quite sure how to do it - she gave me a couple of ideas that she had seen on pinterest but really allowed me to have free rein on the design (which i relished).
We ordered 30 multi-coloured paper balloons from one of our suppliers and sprayed them all gold. We knew that we wanted to have hanging balloons from the large marquee ceiling and wanted to include them in a feature table somewhere else in the venue.
We used the little baskets on the balloons to house a small foliage and floral arrangement using three different types of eucalyptus and some gorgeous peach roses.
When Laura & Karne booked with us last year, they told us the devastating news immediately that Karne had got cancer and that things may have to change along the way. We promised them from the very beginning that we would be as flexible as possible with their booking and would do our very best to help in any way that we could!
We really enjoyed being a small part of their day and hope that they both had a truly wonderful day!
