Working as a small business in the wedding industry can get to be quite lonely. Dont' get me wrong, you do get to meet up with and chat to lots of lovely couples and bride-to-be's but due to spending most of your time busily working in front of a computer screen or in your workshop you rarely get the opportunity to chat to other wedding professionals about day to day things.
I think it is important that small businesses working in the same industry get to meet each other and chat about the unique services that they offer. After all it is highly unusual to find a company that will be able to do absolutely everything each different couple desires. You need to make yourself known to other businesses and show them the products and services that you offer. You also need to find out about what they offer themselves so that you can recommend their businesses to couples in your own catchment area if it is different to what you offer.
Today we had the opportunity to do just that! We were invited by the fantastic Val Mattinson at Benessamy Weddings & Events to The UK Alliance of Wedding Planners Ltd Coffee Club for wedding professionals event at The National Space Centre. (UKAWP)
We got to meet new people, drink tea, munch biscuits and even have a sneaky look around The National Space Centre itself - which is incidentally starting to host weddings and events in the centre this year.
We had a fabulous day sharing contact details and ideas with people whom we have so much in common and we look forward to what the future will bring.
