Ellen & Mark - Mythe Barn

Todays blog post brings us to the wedding of Ellen and Mark which took place on a warm but a little bit drizzly August day in 2021. I've been meaning to blog about this wedding for such a long time so am glad to have the post finally live!

Following a beautiful, traditional church ceremony, Ellen and Mark welcomed their guests along to one of our favourite venues Mythe Barn in Leicestershire for their wedding breakfast and evening reception.

Ellen and Mark opted for an all blush palette which worked perfectly for the time of year and complimented the natural lighting in both the church and the venue.

Blush is the ideal colour to complement a beautiful rustic wedding, alongside whites and greens, we wanted to create an atmospheric, soft Midsummer vibe without all the theatre.

Team Rustic not only worked on the styling for Ellen and Mark's wedding, but we put together some incredible floristry design too which we were really proud of, not only did the wedding look good but it smelt divine too. Ellen had sent over a picture of a very specific wispy bridal bouquet which she absolutely loved and asked us to recreate it. I am pleased to confirm she was happy with the result.

We kept things super simple but elegant when styling the Church space which is located a stones throw from Mythe Barn itself. All Churches are incredibly beautiful already so there is never a need to go crazy with decor and we only really recommend flowers to decorate this space.

We lined the aisle with simple floral pew ends tied to the end of the chairs. Each arrangement was tied with silk ribbon in a uniform style - one per row on either side. Simplistic but so effective.

We also created a pedestal arrangement for the church using an abundance of mixed blush blooms amongst whites and ivories to sit at the top of the ceremony aisle.

When guests arrived to Mythe Barn, they were greeted by our copper pipe & acrylic welcome signage decorated with a mixture of greenery and our ever popular cylinder vase candleholders - a perfect choice for a romantic styling plan.

Guests were then seated at round tables with white chiavari chairs which were hired in from an external company as an optional extra (Mythe Barn only has wooden chairs). We then draped these chair with blush chiffon chair drapes tied with white ribbon. Adding the blush drapes added a pretty pop of colour to the room without being over bearing and worked perfectly with the white table cloths.

We created simple floral arrangements for the centrepieces and added trailing arrangements to each table using urns as the perfect vessle to compliment the design and structure of the floristry.

A blush pink table runner was pleated through the middle of the table where we added extra cylinder vases and copper tea lights around the edge of the floral centres for the all important ambient mood lighting.

We then used a hammered copped charger plate for each setting space with a crisp, knotted white napkin, a white card menu, wooden laser cut name places and of course, a sprig of foliage.

Tables were numbered individually with a copper frame on each table directing guests to where they needed to be.

Ellen & Mark chose to have a "Sweetheart table" for their top table to seat just the two of them & it was designed to be the focal point for the room. We added a blush pink waterfall chiffon drape to the front of the table and a more a dramatic floral arrangement in an asymmetrical design both on the front of the table and at its base. We then positioned cylinder vases & tall dinner candles in glass candlesticks amongst the flowers.

Ellen asked for our ornate french style mirror to be used to create a table plan for the guests to find their seats. We added names and numbers to the mirror itself before creating a long floral arrangement to sit on the top of the mirror.

The mirror was placed on the floor close to the card and guest book station which complimented that area perfectly.

We set up mini confetti area by using 3 simple props - a blush runner, small wooden crates and some bespoke signage on copper photo frames - the personalised quote was chosen by Ellen.

Confetti cones were filled with dried flower petal confetti in a blush & ivory mix ready for that all important confetti shot following the ceremony.

Mini guests were treated to a sweetie table featuring all the blush treats, we added another runner and some more signage, and spare blooms added those finishing touches.

The venue's vintage drawers hosted the guestbook and gift area. We used our glass greenhouse for the safe keeping of cards and of course, used more copper frames for bespoke signage. Blooms and foliage made the styling burst with colour and class.

Finally, the all important cake area!

Ellen and Mark chose a simple but effective rustic semi - naked cake with four tiers of yumminess. We used the venue's barrel as the cake table this time and added a blush drape down to the floor then set the cake on our copper cake stand.

We had great pleasure creating this blush wedding for the lovely Ellen and Mark and I'm sure you will all agree, it truly was a beautiful day.
